During 3 sessions over the past weeks, Eden's crews familiarized themselves with the new rescue equipment purchased through last year's Assistance to Firefighters' Grant.
Utilizing an overturned SUV and armored car, crews practiced with the new equipment as well as reviewing operations of high pressure airbags and air chisels. Beginning on an overturned SUV, small vehicle stabilization was enforced before finally moving on to the armored car.
Crews stabilizing during the initial lifting operation
Crews worked on initial stabilization of the vehicle, focusing on placement for a lifting operation. High pressure bags were used to lift the first inches, providing clearance for the medium pressure lifting bags.
Transition from High to Medium Pressure Bags
Following inflation of the first bags, the medium pressure bags were placed in service in sequence, lifting the load nearly 3 feet above its original position without any accessory raised platform.
The end result: Lift with both medium pressure bags
