For a recent Monday night training, Truck 24 traveled out in the first due for a review of ropes, knots and rigging skills.

The given scenario was the rescue of an injured victim using a stokes basket. Crews first rigged a lowering system, attached it to the stokes basket, then assisted it down the hill with 4 litter tenders on the sides.

Working on Lashing the Patient into the Basket

Once down the hill, the patient had to be lashed into the basket, ensuring safety on the trip back up. After converting the ropes to a haul system, the entire crew and the litter with patient were brought back up to the start point.

A big thank you to some residents of the first due for allowing us to train in their back yard.
