On Thursday afternoon Truck 24 along with Engine 4-7-1(Paradise-Leahman) and Skycare aeromedical participated in an extrication demonstration at Conestoga Valley Middle School. This was held for the Future Firefighters Club. During the club period these students meet with Firefighters from departments that serve East Lampeter Township. The club covers firefighting, rescue and ems through several hands-on sessions.
During this session 47 and 24 joined up to cover vehicle extrication. The club members had the chance to see and actually operate several rescue tools in a controlled environment.
In addition to the vehicle rescue scenario, skycare was also on-hand. The students got the opportunity to see the helicopter in-flight as well as land in a nearby field. A tour of the helicopter brought the day to an end.
