The Eden Volunteer Fire Company would like to graciously thank Captain Timothy Delehanty of the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department in Maryland. Since September of 2005, Tim allowed the Eden Volunteers use of his own piece of fire apparatus for an extensive drivers training program.

Former PG County Truck 34

In September the Eden Fire Company started drivers training on a 1968 Hahn Tractor Drawn Aerial. The ladder truck was originally in service in Prince Georges County, MD. as Truck 34(Chillum-Adelphi) prior to being bought by Tim.

Members of Eden utilized the ladder truck for several months leading up to the delivery of our new 2006 Pierce Tractor Drawn Aerial.

2006 Pierce Tractor Drawn Aerial

This ladder truck is much different from any truck purchased by Eden in the past. It requires the use of two operators controlling two steering wheels to negotiate tight turns and streets in Manheim Township. These operators are known as a tractor driver and a tillerman. The use of Delehanty's truck allowed Eden firefighters the opportunity to learn the operation of a TDA and the communication needed to successfully manuveur the unit.

"Training for the Future"

Eden is again very thankful for the use of Tim's personal ladder truck. Without the use of this training unit we would never have been able to successfully purchase and in-service a brand new Tractor Drawn Aerial. Thanks again Captain Delehanty; from all the members of the Eden Volunteer Fire Company.
