Just before 0600 Hours this morning, a chain reaction vehicle accident occurred. This caused serious problems for commuters on Route 30.

Subsequently, Company 24, Rescue 211 and EMS were dispatched for a vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer on Route 30 just prior to New Holland Pike. LCWC reported a multiple vehicle accident with unknown injuries.

Company 24 arrived onscene with an accident involving two passenger vehicles, a tractor trailer and a garbage truck. Crews encountered one driver who was trapped in her car as well as a hazardous materials spill. The spill was created from a ruptured saddle tank on the tractor-trailer.

The truck crew quickly extricated the trapped occupant and assisted with patient packaging. In addition, crews worked to control the diesel leak from the tractor trailer. Hazmat 29-2 and the hazmat duty officer were called to assist with mitigating the leak and spill.

The company remained onscene for several hours the hazmat team operated. Units cleared around 1030 Hours.
